The theater workshop organized by a private care center with the support of the Disabled and Elderly Services Development Foundation, within the scope of December 3, World Disability Day, was a great success. "Muhterem Tent Theatre", exhibited at Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Turgut Özakman Stage, revealed the artistic talents of disabled individuals and received full marks from the audience.
The play, which was staged after a preparation process that lasted about a year, provided unforgettable moments with the superior performance of the special actors staying in the care centers. The work, written and directed by Theater Actor and Director Onur Birgi, was attended by Eskişehir Deputy Governor Ali Çetin, MÜSİAD Eskişehir President Atty. Oğuz Özdemir, EYGEV Chairman Serkan Ülkü, various non-governmental organizations, families and many citizens showed great interest.
Our Chairman Ülkü expressed his feelings about the event with the following words: “On this special day, special people put on an excellent game. We all saw together how obstacles can be overcome when given the opportunity. It is our duty to protect and support the life rights of disabled people in all areas of society, in art, sports and business. “I wholeheartedly congratulate our special actors who are the architects of this meaningful event and our valuable directors who prepared them.
Director Onur Birgi touched upon the importance of the work and said: “We went through a very intense and meticulous preparation process with our special players. This game showed once again that there is no such thing as "impossible". We were very happy with the interest shown in the play we staged. We are proud to be a part of this unique experience for our players and their families. “We aim to be on the stage with new projects in the future.”
The event ended with the presentation of achievement medals to the special players and taking souvenir photographs after the game, which received great applause.
We see that when disabled individuals are given the opportunity to express themselves in social life, they achieve many successes, regardless of science, art or sports. On behalf of this special and meaningful day, as EYGEV, we emphasize the importance of education, communication and multidisciplinary work; We would like to emphasize our belief in social justice and equality of opportunity.
